Weddings – Surrey String Ensemble

Creating the perfect wedding day

Surrey String Ensemble will provide an amazing performance on your big day. We can help you strike the right note, creating a great atmosphere to get your guests relaxed and make it memorable. We recommend that you listen to some of our videos to give you an idea of what you may like and take a look at our 3420 piece repertoire. Please find below some help and advice on how we make it special. We can recommend some appropriate music for each part of the ceremony, or you may wish to choose each piece yourself. In religious ceremonies there are numerous possibilities where music can accompany the proceedings. You can choose any or all of these moments to put your personality into your big day:

WEDDING CEREMONY

The standard format for a wedding ceremony presents four musical performances:

  • Pre-ceremony music – Beautiful music while your guests arrive
  • The bridal entry – Your chosen unique entrance piece
  • Signing of the register – Special pieces during the signing & photographs
  • Bride & groom exit – Your memorable exit piece as you leave man and wife

If you are having a Catholic Ceremony, you may wish to include us in other parts of your ceremony.

DRINKS RECEPTION

A drinks reception is a great opportunity for your guests to meet each other and mingle. For members of both families and friends this is often the first chance for everyone to meet up. A relaxed atmosphere with drinks & canopies accompanied by The Surrey String Ensemble is ideal. We offer you the option of selecting all or a few pieces, or we can simply perform some great wedding favourites.

WEDDING BREAKFAST

We provide the perfect backdrop, creating a lovely atmosphere for your Wedding Breakfast. Playing relaxing live music of your choice for your guests, we add that extra special touch. If you would like help deciding what music you would like, we are more than happy to assist you in making recommendations.

Deciding on which pieces to choose for your ceremony and drinks reception is a supremely personal choice and you will want pieces that have special meaning to your relationship, or carry a message that you wish to deliver to others on your special day. The duration of each piece is not a concern when planning your service. Most quartet pieces are between three and five minutes long and thus fit perfect within each section. Otherwise most classical music contains repeats or recurring phrases which sound excellent if attenuated at a cadence point. For example Pachelbel’s Canon is based on a cyclical baseline which means we can always time the bridal entry to perfection! We take our cues directly or by liaising with the Priest or Celebrant prior to the ceremony, so there is no input needed from you on the day.
